JOB VACANCY - Senior Technical Advisor

Designation: Senior Technical Advisor       

Location: Singapore

Working Days: Weekdays and Saturdays

Role: Advisor for testing services offered by CTI-Maritec involved in laboratory operations and engage with clients supporting on issues pertaining to technical vessel operations, disputes, and claims.

Key Responsibilities

  • Familiar with ISO17025 standard and the application of same in laboratory operations.
  • Ensure client requirements for testing services is fulfilled within agreed timeframe with the aid of inhouse enterprise software and work towards smooth sample processing throughout its entire lifecycle from receipt to reporting of test results.
  • Engage in providing quality technical advisory on various types of fuels and lubricants tested at Maritec’s Laboratories with a good overall understanding of process involved in production, distribution, and usage by the maritime industry.
  • Continually review technical advisory provided to clients for accuracy and relevance.
  • Provide support to clients by investigating root causes and suggesting mitigating measures when issues are raised with regards to poor quality of product or if difficulties are encountered with onboard marine machinery during its usage.
  • Provide support to clients for Marine Fuel Quality disputes from the perspective of an independent testing laboratory.
  • Keep track of internal and external client requests and actively follow up on the same to close cases in a timely manner.
  • Analyze large volumes of testing data from the Laboratory to find meaningful relationships between various test parameters and assist to adapt testing programs to match the same. Routinely draft monthly and quarterly fuel quality review based on the same.
  • Prepare technical bulletins and bunker flash on problematic fuels encountered based on the testing data and valid client feedback.
  • Provide technical support to sales for Client Business reviews, Assist Subject Manager to develop new sales plan for clients.
  • Provide technical support on upcoming statutory regulations mandated by the International Maritime Organization particularly w.r.t Marine pollution and Environmental compliance
  • Provide technical support on new product/service development based on new regulations or existing marine pollution/environmental compliance
  • Actively engage in business process review and identify areas of improvement. Determine and define new project scopes where necessary obtaining consensus from different stakeholders.
  • Assist in conducting internal audits to actively verify and improve laboratory process as per Singapore Accreditation Council Guidelines.
  • Develop and conduct technical seminars to educate clients on current industry trends with the objective of promoting existing services 

Requirements

  • Certificate of Competency Marine Engineer Officer Class 5 and above
  • Suitable field experience onboard marine vessels and management of marine machinery
  • Relevant experience in marine fuel testing and technical advisory
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills particularly w.r.t Marine Machinery
  • Good Leadership Skills and experience in rank
  • Strong team orientation and can manage cross-functional relationships in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Strong sense of integrity and professionalism.
  • Independent, outcome driven, organized and resourceful
  • Hands-on and a positive attitude
  • Conversant in usage of Microsoft Business analysis tools.

Experience in the capacity of Technical Engineer/Technical Advisor for the following will be preferred.

  • Providing technical advisory services to shipowners, ship operators, charterers, and engine builders on bunkering matters.
  • Experience in arbitration of bunker disputes
  • Experienced in providing expert advice on loss management for poor quality bunker stems
