CTI-Maritec gains ABS approval for

BWMS commissioning test in singapore

CTI-Maritec has got the approval from Class ABS as a Recognized Service Supplier in Biological Testing of BWMS During Commission Following Installation which ABS surveyors may rely on to make decisions affecting classification and/or statutory surveys. Now both China and Singapore (under the brand of CTI-MARITEC) has got the approval by ABS. CTI-Maritec is also approved by other available main IACS members (DNV and LR) as service provider for ballast water management system commissioning testing.

This service recognition is for biological testing of Ballast Water Management Systems (BWMS) following installation in accordance with the International Convention for the Control and Management of Ships’ Ballast Water and Sediments (2004) and the resolutions and guidance provided by MEPC.

MEPC 75 (16 to 20 November 2020) has adopted the Amendment to the Ballast Water Management Convention (BWMC) to conduct commissioning testing so as to demonstrate through representative sampling and indicative analysis that a BWMS is working properly, according to the amendments, sampling and analysis should be conducted at commissioning testing for BWMS installed on board ships on or after 1 June 2022.

MEPC 75 also approved the 2020 Guidance for the commissioning testing of ballast water management systems (BWM.2/Circ.70/Rev.1), and the 2020 Guidance on ballast water sampling and analysis for trial use in accordance with the BWM Convention and Guidelines (G2) (BWM.2/Circ.42/Rev.2).Biological Testing of Ballast Water Management System During Commissioning Following Installation Certificate
