The Singapore arm of specialty chemicals company Innospec and marine fuel testing and marine surveying business Maritec Pte Ltd (CTI-Maritec) are jointly organising the VLSFO trends, Issues & Best Practices webinar.
The session, scheduled to take place on 19 January 2022, will offer delegates insights on the prevention of operational issues when using VLSFOs, along with an update on biofuels together with bunker fuel quality trends for 2021 and its forecast for the current year.
Moderated by Gabian Chew, Senior Editor at Singapore bunkering publication Manifold Times, the panel will feature industry experts Martin Chew, Marine Regional Sales Manager, Asia Pacific, at Innospec and Bharath Kumar, Technical Manager at CTI-Maritec as speakers.
“VLSFOs are now the main type of bunker fuel used by shipping firms and the past two years [since IMO 2020] have provide us with immense experience on the management of this material,” shares Martin.
“We understand the shipping industry has often sought the help of marine fuel additives to manage VLSFO quality issues and will be happy to use this opportunity to address what our additives can accomplish in this aspect.
“Delegates who attend the webinar will benefit from having acquire knowledge on the situations which additives can assist in; whether in the prevention of VLSFO issues or in their ability to ‘save’ off-spec marine fuels from a debunkering operation.”
Kumar adds: “We have accumulated massive amounts of data related to VLSFOs and are now in a solid position to provide a forecast to the product’s quality trend heading into 2022.”
“Furthermore, we look forward to share data on biofuels which, apart from LNG, are widely thought to be the next main bunker fuel to be adopted by the maritime industry as it heads into decarbonisation.”
