CTI GAINED KR APPROVAL FOR BWMS COMMISSIONING TEST

CTI-Maritec China has got the approval from Class KR (Korean Register) as a Recognized Service Supplier for Commissioning Testing of Ballast Water Management Systems (BWMS).

CTI-Maritec China has fully been approved by available main IACS members (ABS, DNV and LR) at earlier time. It is worth noting that this is the second time for CTI-Maritec to achieve the certification from Class KR. CTI-Maritec was granted acceptance for Visual/Sampling check and testing for hazardous material in 2019 by KR. This achievement elevates our confidence and service ability in the field of ballast water to serve more vessels.

According to IMO estimates, ships carry some 3 billion tons to 5 billion tons of ballast water globally each year. “The International Convention for the Control and Management of Ships’ Ballast Water and Sediments, 2004” (Ballast Water Management Convention) was adopted in 2004 with the aim of protecting the marine environment against transmigration of harmful aquatic organisms in ballast water carried by ships. And, the BWM Convention entered into force on 8 September 2017.

According to the amendments which has been adopted at MEPC 75., sampling and analysis should be conducted at commissioning test if the survey including verification of BWMS installation is completed on or after 1 June 2022.

Deadline: If the vessel does not have an IOPP certificate, then the compliance date is 8 September 2024 at the latest.

Prior to the entering into force of this amendment by 1 June 2022, some flag administrations (Australia - Cyprus - Singapore - Tuvalu - Greece - India - Canada - Croatia - France - Gibraltar) require the early implementation so that the sampling analysis to be conducted in accordance with their instructions.

Based on global extensive ballast water analysis service & lab network, back up by technical professionals, CTI-Maritec has the capability of a variety of indicative analysis methods and detailed analysis.
